No photos for the time being... sorry

Well, it seems that there will not be any pictures for a while as it takes agessssssssssssssssssssssss to upload them onto the blog. I have tried yesterday and spent over 3 hours to upload ONE photo.. my patience has limits so unless I find an alternative way to send them, you guys may have to wait until I'm back to Paris for xmas.

So I am now back to Addis where I will rest for a little while before sailing off to new adventures. After the South, we explored Eastern Ethiopia and in particular the city of Harar. Harar is an old walled city that is quite charming. People here speak Harari, Somali and Oromo. No more beautiful "half-naked" women walking aroung, Harar is predominantly Muslim. Harar coffee is well known throughout the world and is supposed to be the best! It surely smells very nicely. We stayed there for 2 days and witnessed the famous feeding of the hyenas. Basically, a man is brave enough to feed hungry hyenas (at least 7 of them) in the dark (it was past 7pm); he even placed meat in his mouth, from which hyenas carefully and almost gracefully grabbed it. And I was brave enough to witness it all at a very near distance. I just made sure that fresh meat ( I mean human beings) were between me and the hyenas. Pas folle la guepe comme meme!!

We then visisted the Sof Omar caves, where a sheikh is supposed to have sought refuge against religious intolerance. I don't know when exactly, no one seems to know either. The caves were quite amazing but the pictures would be much better than my vague description. I imagined the site to be full of tourists but Claire and I were the only tourists. The villagers were quite welcoming.

Then, we went to the Bale Moutains and the Sanetti Plateau at over 3000m altitude. We trekked (although Claire called it a challenging walk) and saw a few animals.

We have driven for over 4000km, and are resting before doing the same in the North. Ethiopia is huge!!

In a few days, we'll be heading to the North of Ethiopia to visit the legendary Aksum and Lalibela. THe northern route is called the Historic route and I am really looking forward to it.

Voila, miss you all a lottttt
